Poncokusumo Tourism Village

Poncokusumo is a village located at the foothills of Mount Semeru, specifically in Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency. It is at an altitude of approximately 700-1,300 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 20-30 degrees Celsius. Poncokusumo Village is also a village that supports tourism in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area. Because of its location near the forest, Poncokuusmo Village has the potential and beauty of the natural panorama, where as far as the eye can see it looks green with the background of Mount Semeru. The village is synonymous with horticulture such as apples and oranges.

The distance from Malang City (city center) is approximately 45 minutes, and currently the road to Poncokusumo Village is more accessible. Area boundaries: South – Pandansari Village, North – Wringinanom Village, West – Wonorejo Village, and South – Ngadireso Village.

Resident Activities

The residents of Poncokusumo Village are primarily farmers. The main commodities are apples and vegetables such as watercress. Some also grow corn and cassava, and some grow flowers (chrysanthemums).

Arts and Culture

Poncokusumo Village has several types of arts, including kuda lumping, bantengan, pencak dor, ludruk, campursari, reog rayung, wayang kulit, terbang kontemporer, terbang jidor, karawitan, drum band, and sakerah. 

SME

Poncokusumo Village has several MSME products, including various chips ‘Q-JHO’, apple juice ‘Agrosari Semeru Mulya’, ‘Sari Apel Semeru Poncokusumo’. In addition, there are also ‘Kusuma’ batik products and ‘Jaya Selur’ candies.

Culinary

The signature snack of Poncokusumo Village is Kolak Goblok. Kolak Goblok is a snack passed down from the residents’ ancestors. The ingredients consist of pumpkin, grated coconut, and palm sugar. The process of making it is by cleaning the skin of the pumpkin, then taking the top part and making a hole, after which grated coconut and palm sugar are put into it at once. The origin of this food is as a form of gratitude for the safety of domestic animals such as cows, buffaloes, horses, and goats. This food is available on the 7th day of Eid and is accompanied by a large triangular ketupat. As time goes by, this snack is usually served at a free meal held once a year. Not only that, this snack is also served as a special dish for tourists who come to Poncokusumo Tourism Village.
